Will India Really Become a Superpower...?

Some Dreams can be Dangerous. Especially ones that are not drawn from any sort of reality . Like India's fixation with being a grand player on the world stage.
It's an India ready to make the world spin the other round on its axis. Each success has brought another bout of confusion, India's Lunar Mission is the fine example. There is Ice on Moon, Hai Hind!

NRIs have Played a big role in formulating the superpower fantasy. They're oblivious to starvation deaths in Bengal but delighted to find Laxmi Mittal the UK's richest person.
In 2009, India was the world's second largest arms importer. But it's still an importer. Tanks, fighter jets,warships-they are all foreign made. China, in contrast, is now among the world's five top arms exporters.

Shackled Superpower:
Literacy: India has world's largest no. of illiterates, people who can't even write their own name.
Child Health: India has the world's largest no. of child facilities as well as world's largest no. of children living malnourished lives.
Socio- Economic equity : Despite its Large middle class, india also has about 400 million people who live on less than $2 per day.
Regional Security: India's military does not extend beyond sub continent. The country's ability to influence events beyond its territory is highly constrained.
Knowledge : Indians are not knowledge Leaders. The country owns only a small number of patents worldwide.
Demography Dividend: India is counting on its young as the developed world ages. However, almost 60% of indian youth are unemployable in white collar roles. The job explosion, meanwhile,is in the knowledge economy. With an ill-equipped population, by 2020 india may be staring at demographic nightmare.

The Middle class insulates itself in the superpower ivory tower , it will invite reaction . There are people out in jungles who want to overthrow the state, an entity they see as hostage to the middle class and fancies
